Prashant Jhawar - Chairman

Prashant is a second generation entrepreneur who joined the family business as a trainee at Usha Martin Ltd in 1982. Serving in increasingly progressive capacities at the organization, he has handled complex responsibilities over the years. In fact, he is the architect of several initiatives that are now milestones in the company’s rich history.

Prashant was instrumental in getting Usha Martin listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange in 1994. In the same year, he founded Usha Martin Telekom, a GSM cellular network provider, in partnership with Telekom Malaysia and other international investors and successfully exited out of the business by trade sale to Hutchison Whampoa.

Taking over as Vice-Chairman of Usha Martin Ltd in 1996, he launched a series of far-reaching endeavours. Notable among these include -

  • Founded Usha Communication Technology - Billing and Customer Care Company in 1995

  • Established a consulting firm focused on telecom services named Bonsai Networks Limited in 2003

  • Acquired Telecom billing division of LogicaCMG in 2005, successfully integrating it with existing billing business

  • Acquired minority interest in Billscutter Ltd., a price comparison business

Prashant is a key member of several entrepreneurial associations, including the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) London Westminster Chapter, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and The Institute for Family Business (UK).

 

  Uday Dharmadhikari - Chief Executive Officer

Uday’s focus area is project management. Over a professional span of 25 years, he worked for the leading names on the global corporate canvas, handling multi-million dollar projects. Till date, he has successfully implemented space development to the tune of 6 million sq.ft in India and abroad. He has also been responsible for developing & implementing strategy for national & international projects in the field of Industrial, commercial, Residential, Hotels and IT/ITES sectors.

Uday has visited many countries and been a key member of the CDC delegation to Afghanistan for exploring opportunities in the infrastructure sectors. He has been honoured with several awards for his painstaking contribution to infrastructure creation, both in India and abroad.

An able business leader and motivator, Uday is steering the organization towards newer frontiers of growth and success.

A B.E. (Civil Engineering), Uday has also done a Professional Doctorate in Management (PDM).

  Andrew Seys Llewellyn - Advisor

Andrew began his career training as an investment manager before moving to ABN Amro Hoare Govett to work as a corporate broker, dealing with the firm's UK client base which included in excess of 20 FTSE 100 companies.

Andrew then joined HSBC's European equities team and was a founding member of the hedge fund sales team, jointly writing the “European Investment Ideas” product that focused on aggressive and innovative trading strategies that combined technical analysis and macro themes. He was also a member of HSBC Equity Research Focus team, providing feedback to analysts regarding the behavior of institutional clients.

Most recently Andrew was a Managing Partner at Chayton Capital, an emerging markets investment manager with real assets under management across target markets of Central Eastern Europe and sub-Saharan Africa. He was responsible for business development, capital introductions and instigated Chayton's current move into the agricultural sector, conceiving of the first equal partnership between asset manager and agricultural operating firm.

Andrew is currently Advisor to UBR, and is involved more broadly across the Usha Martin Group in a number of areas, focusing on the external promotion of co-investment opportunities in new business areas and corporate initiatives undertaken by the Group.

Andrew also holds a non-executive position with FAR Consultants, a firm dedicated to providing investment research and strategic advice in emerging agricultural markets.

  Pranav Desai - Chief Investment Officer

Pranav, a Graduate - Civil Engineer with Masters in Financial Management from NMIMS, Mumbai University, has more than 18 years of overall experience in Corporate Finance, Project Finance, Project Management & Business Development. He has been associated with reputed Multinational and National organizations like Fiat Group, Hiranandani group, Billimoria Constructions etc.

Pranav has been responsible for the following:

  • Project Structuring and Conceptualization of Financial Models with Sensitivity Analyses.

  • Financial Modeling for various alternative scenarios on SEZ and Non-SEZ projects.

  • Investor Relations - Pre and Post Investment stages.

  • Liasoning with various Financial Institutions & Banks for Project Financing.

  • Appraisal of the projects, Due Diligence and Feasibility Study considering all Techno-commercial aspects.

He has handled projects at Canada, Venezuela, Iran & India in Real Estate, Industry & Infrastructure Sector.

  Vimal Mody - General Manager (Operations)

Holder of a graduate degree in Civil engineering, Vimal Mody did his post graduation in Project/Construction Management.

For 12 years, he has gained invaluable insight in the area of Project Monitoring and Management of real estate and infrastructure projects. He has worked on an array of challenging assignments, including commercial buildings, industrial structures, shopping malls, ADB funded urban infrastructure development projects and PPP model - water supply projects.

He has been associated with large MNCs & corporates like HCC, Gherzi Eastern and Jones Lang LaSalle Meghraj, having worked there at senior management level.

  Ajay Kumar Tibrewala - Financial Controller & Company Secretary

Ajay a Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary and Cost Accountant has over 11 years of experience in Finance, Taxation, Costing & Corporate affairs. He has been associated with corporate like Cello Group, National Stock Exchange and its IT & Software Subsidiaries, Aon Global Insurance.
